iTEP Au Pair Scoring
More than just a number.
We believe a lot of information can be communicated in a test score. iTEP Au Pair scores serve not only to compare test-takers and aid in hiring and screening, but can also enable agencies to get to know the nuances of their applicants’ language skills, and help test-takers better understand their own English skills.
iTEP determines an overall proficiency level from 0 (beginner) to 6 (mastery), as well as a breakdown of individual proficiency levels from 0 to 6 for each skill tested (speaking and listening). The overall score and section scores are expressed in tenth-levels (2.1, 2.2, etc.).
- Both test sections are weighted equally.
- The listening section consists of 18 multiple-choice questions and is scored automatically by computer. Five sub-skills for this section are also presented to provide detail and insight into how the section score was achieved.
- There is no penalty for incorrect answers.
- The speaking samples are evaluated according to standardized criteria by English as a Second Language professionals who are native English speakers.
The Official iTEP Au Pair Score Report presents an testers results in both tabular and graphical formats. The graphical format, or skill profile, is particularly useful for displaying a test-taker’s strengths and weaknesses in each of the skills evaluated by the test. This provides agencies a more detailed picture of the language skills of their applicants, and offers test-takers a breakdown of the skills they most need to improve.
